Meet the team

Andy Rees

Lead Pastor
Andy is married to Grace with three delightfully energetic, young(ish) girls. He came to know Christ at a young age and marvels at God’s merciful saving kindness in his life.
He loves sharing Jesus though his word the Bible, with anyone who will listen.
Alongside leading CityGates Church, he enjoys watching niche indie bands that will never be famous, eating hipsters burgers and cheering on anything Welsh - which is currently mostly football and Gareth Bale related.

Ashley Gardner

Associate Pastor
Ashley is married to Jodie and has four cheeky children. From Lincoln but trained in Scotland, he previously served as an Assistant Pastor at Charlotte Chapel, Edinburgh.
Ashley is passionate about God and His word. Ashley preaches, oversees our small groups and is responsible for our ministry training programme.
When he isn’t feeding/cleaning/chasing his children, he likes to read theology or a novel, eat spicy curry, spend time in the garden or drink coffee/whisky/stout (he’s not fussy).

Bev Dubberley

Outreach Lead
Bev is married to Andy and they have 4 children. After university, she spent 16 years sharing the good news about Jesus with students in the UK and overseas.
Ever since becoming convinced at University, that Jesus is who he says he is in the Bible, Bev has been keen to help others investigate Christianity and to help Christians to communicate their faith relevantly.
In her spare time, Bev enjoys family walks with their badly-behaved dog, sailing on the Broads, and playing the clarinet in a local orchestra.

Iain Ridley

Welcome & Integration Lead
Iain is married to Faith, and they have three children: Joseph, Talitha & Silas
He was in his early twenties when he came to know Jesus as his Lord and Saviour and understand how that changes everything. He’s loving serving the church family here at CityGates and helping others keep going and growing in their faith.
Likes: meeting new people, meals out with friends, growing veg, buying vinyl records, reading, and scrabble.
Dislikes: being on his own for too long, badly cooked steak, cycling up Kett’s Hill – if you know you know!

Hannah Silver

Students and Young Adults Lead
Hannah came to know Christ in her childhood, growing up with the blessing of believing parents. She gave her life to Jesus as a teenager but really grew in her personal commitment to living for Him whilst at University here in Norwich.
Since moving to Norwich 6 years ago, she has worked with students in Christian Unions in Norfolk and Suffolk and then as a renal/dialysis nurse.
When she’s not at church or the hospital (working!!), Hannah loves: reading, anything water related-especially paddleboarding or swimming and all forms of arts and crafts.

Suzie Kerrison

Head of Children's & Youth Work
Suzie grew up in Norwich and moved to study at university in Manchester, where she worked as a primary school teacher.
Soon after returning to Norwich in the summer of 2021, she joined the CityGates staff team.
Suzie is very excited to combine her love of sharing the good news of Jesus and her passion for working with young people, and their families, in her job.
Suzie loves singing, spending time with family and friends, exploring the countryside and baking (especially brownies and cupcakes!).

Annie Creed

Children's & Youth Work
Annie is married to Jordan and has three little (but loud!) children: Eden, Noa and Jesse. She is so grateful to have grown up in a Christian family and to have known Jesus for most of her life. She used to be a primary school teacher, and is thankful for how the Lord has now brought her to serve families and children at CityGates.
Annie loves cooking, ticking off as many different restaurants and cafes as possible, podcasts (a bit obsessed), Vinted and getting to know people.

Elizabeth Cahir

Training & Discipleship for Women
Elizabeth is married to John, they have two children and have been in Norwich for over 18 years.  Elizabeth originally made a commitment to Christ at around 13 years but drifted away in later teenage and University life.  God in his graciousness brought her back to true repentance in her mid-twenties and she’s delighted to now be serving CityGates in women’s ministry.  Previously Elizabeth ran her own company in tourism (skiing and alpine summer holidays) for 25 years and in her spare time likes skiing, obviously, dancing – ballet and modern, hiking and has just started cold water swimming!

Claire Dove

Church Administrator
Claire grew up in Bury St Edmunds and gave her life to Jesus as a teenager. She started attending Surrey Chapel (as it was then) in 1991 and it was here that she met her husband, Phil.
After retiring from cardiology nursing in 2015, she took over the admin role at church. She feels so privileged to be serving God, the amazing staff team, the church family and the community, at CityGates.
When she’s not fighting with the photocopier she loves walking, holidays, bird-watching and cake-decorating

Lunden Martineau

Ministry Trainee
Lunden is from Ellisville, Mississippi. She grew up in a Christian household and accepted Christ at a young age. She went on to study Intercultural Studies and is pursuing a career in missions. She previously worked in her parent’s restaurant but is ready to pursue the call that God to work alongside local churches to share  the Gospel.
She enjoys hanging out with friends and exploring new places! She also loves game nights, basically any way to serve others and bring people together. Living in England has always been a dream of hers so getting to do that while also doing ministry is the biggest dream come true!

Wesley Chapman

Ministry Trainee
Wes grew up right here in fine Norwich and has been part of Citygates Church his whole life! Wes spent his childhood hearing all about Jesus but came to know Christ as his saviour when he was a teenager whilst attending summer camp.
You might spot Wes on the music team playing guitar or hiding behind the drum kit. He loves using his gifts to serve people in sung worship.  Outside of church Wes loves all things animals and wildlife - believe it or not, Wes is actually a qualified safari guide!

Abi Harold

Ministry Trainee
Before joining the CityGates team, Abi worked as a children's book illustrator for Bible stories.  During her time at university, Abi wrestled with questions of identity, meaning and suffering. At 19, she experienced a radical change in outlook and began exploring different philosophies and spiritual practices. Eventually, Abi’s Christian housemate confronted her with the Gospel and Abi discovered she needed more than just an outward change – she needed a whole new heart. She gave her life to Jesus the day she graduated and has been growing as a child of God ever since.
Abi also plays in a local girl folk group, loves swimming in the sea and eating eton mess.

Jake Purves

Ministry Trainee
Jake is from Edinburgh where he grew up in a Christian household.
Throughout school he hid his faith but soon came to realise he needed to rely on Gods strength rather than his own. This allowed him to be more open and honest about his identity in Christ.
In his free time Jake enjoys rugby and socialising with his friends. He's delighted to be serving at CityGates this year and is looking forward to living in a foreign country!

Sam Manson

Ministry Trainee
Sam came to Norwich in 2021 to study at the University of East Anglia. He’d heard people talk about Jesus all his life. Yet he’d rejected Him.
Near the end of his first year at university, amid overthinking and personal trials, Sam felt compelled to pray. He did. God changed his heart. He’s been attending City Gates ever since.
Sam loves: sport (only playing, watching is boring), reading, writing, and being unnecessarily competitive during board games.
